Production Assistant

Post Studio is looking for a Production Assistant to join our team of design focused individuals (30 hrs/wk, Immediate Opening).

We are seeking a positive thinking, flexible and organized, creative-minded individual who can help us create and deliver the best laser cut goods in Houston. As a member of our production team, you will work to complete custom laser cut projects and online orders. You will also be given the opportunity to help design & prototype our expanding range of products.

you're good at:

  • Approaching projects with a high level of attention to detail
  • Creative problem solving with a positive attitude
  • Working with your hands and tools
  • Creating hand-crafted items with a clean, polished aesthetic
  • Working in a fast paced environment with changing priorities

extra awesome:

  • Experience with digital design and production of client-based work
  • Knowledge of digital fabrication techniques (laser cutting, CNC, 3D printing)

primary responsibilities:

  • Provide a high level of attention to detail and focus on the given task
  • Operate the laser cutters or other tools used in the production process
  • Keep work area clean and organized
  • Material prep and post-processing (sanding, painting, hand finishing)
  • Prepare products for delivery to client
  • Work with team members to maximize productivity and efficiency
  • Assist other team members in their work as needed

knowledge & skills required:

  • High school diploma or GED is preferred
  • Proficiency in using a Windows based computer
  • Demonstrated basic measurement and math skills
  • Flexible work schedule is required; this position requires shift work and possibly some weekend work
  • Candidate has to be a strong team player

    Design Intern

    We are seeking an energetic, responsible intern to join our growing team. In this position, you will learn the ins-and-outs of our daily routines and procedures. You will focus on learning how our organization runs, and can be expected to gain valuable insight that can further interest in your chosen career field.

    DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES

    • Learn design file set-up & proofing process
    • Assist in preparing design proofs
    • Assist in preparing laser-ready files
    • Sort and manage design file storage
    • Shadow multiple team members and train in a variety of tasks
    • Research and gather documentation
    • Run general errands

    Qualifications

    • High school degree or equivalent; must be enrolled in an accredited university/college program to receive credit
    • Proficient computer skills, including knowledge of design software (Illustrator, Rhino 3D, Corel Draw, Inkscape, or similar vector-based programs)
    • Must be 18 years of age
    • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
    • Self-directed and able to work without supervision
    • Energetic and eager to tackle new projects and ideas
